Creating a Blog

When creating a blog, I thought it would be a straightforward task. You simply log on and make a web page. This includes a format, a font type and other design details and decisions. However, when creating my blog I found myself getting stuck on what I thought would be the simple part, the title. While pondering over the title of my ten-week blog for days I simply hit a roadblock of sorts. So, as a typical college freshman I called my mom. After all, Mom’s are miracle workers right? After talking about what I wanted to get out of this blog and what creative name we could apply to a blog with such goals, my mom kindly brought up what my family calls “Li-isms”. Li-isms, is defined as all the words that contain my name. Whether this be the whole word or simply a prefix or suffix of the word. This list includes things like the roman numerals for fifty-one (LI) or Lithium the element (Li), words like Li-brary and a terribly long list of adverbs. Thus, I came up with the title “Writing CreativeLi”. In my blog I will strive to create writing that is different and points out things that might not have occurred to you. I like to think of all writing as a conversation starter, a motivator to think outside where you would normally think. The goals of my blog are just that, to create pieces that can be discussed or argued about, and while bettering my own writing process at the same time.

  1. Yes, moms can be good for so many things, including naming a blog.

Calling somebody for ideas or to talk about projects, by the way, is one of my favorite strategies for dealing with writer's block.
